Let’s prepare to close out January as we scout the Cal Bears (11-10) and Duke Blue Devils (18-2):

• Earlier in the week, freshman Jeremiah Wilkinson was voted the ACC Men's Basketball Co-Rookie of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Golden Bears to a sweep at home over Florida State and Miami, averaging 24.0 ppg in his first two career starts

• Wilkinson posted a career-high 30 points in Cal's overtime win over the Hurricanes

• He joined Duke’s Cooper Flagg as the only two ACC freshmen to score 30-plus points in a conference game this season

• Duke saw a 19-point run in its recent matchup with NC State to claim a 74-64 win

• Three Blue Devils saw double-figure scoring, those being Cooper Flagg (28), Kon Knueppel (19) and Sion James (13)

• Flagg, who was recently tabbed ACC Rookie of the Week for the eighth time this season, also added seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 37 minutes of play

Women’s Basketball sees a week full of action against Virginia’s finest. This Friday we are scouting the 11-11 Cavaliers and the 14-7 Hokies:

• Last week, against a 17-3 Georgia Tech team, Virginia saw three double-figure scorers in Kymora Johnson (22), Breona Hurd (16), Latasha Lattimore (10) despite falling 75-62

• Johnson mounted her ninth 20-point game of the season, and Hurd scored in double-figures for the 12th time in 20 games this season while Latasha Lattimore recorded her eighth double-double of the season (10 pts, 10 reb)

• Virginia Tech junior Lani White is the latest Hokie to be spotlighted after her three-point shooting proficiency led VT to a 7-3 record in their last 10 matchups

• White’s 50% shooting from deep currently leads the team this season, and she is 11-for-23 this month

• In Tech’s largest ACC win of the season, senior forward Rose Micheaux dominated with a double-double of 14 points and 15 rebounds

• Carleigh Wenzel proved to be one to watch after showing up and showing out against the team’s second most recent contest versus NC State with 18 points
